So what about our meetings?

Each year, we hold competitions for the best poem (in March), best non-fiction article (in June), and best short story (in October) with cups and cash prizes; in December we have our infamous and very light-hearted Doggerel Poetry Contest. The three main competitions are normally judged by a well-known writer or journalist, or someone of similar status, and (when meetings are again allowed) all entries are read out and celebrated with a party. Other than that, meetings generally consist of random stories or poems written and read out by members, on a very friendly and informal basis.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE:

While government restrictions on meetings continue to apply, please note the following:

1. Our normal monthly meetings will resume as soon as these are permitted.

2. Our regular competitions will continue regardless, and entries will be submitted by email to the Chairman, Bob Berry, at 48 Heathfield Green, Midhurst West Sussex GU29 9QA.

3. Meanwhile, the group continues to be very active online. All members receive regular mailings from Bob, and various non-competitive, light-hearted short story projects are suggested. These are submitted online for all to see, and receive helpful comments from others.

So don't hesitate to join us - we are still very active and would still love to meet you online!!
